Coffs Kids has generously donated equipment worth more than $65,000 to the Coffs Harbour Health Campus, helping to support children and families who access the hospital.
The donation will support a range of services including maternity, paediatric care and specialist newborn support, and includes equipment such as bilirubin machines, ophthalmoscopes and breast pumps, as well as an Airvo3 respiratory support system, and monitoring kits with cardiac screening functions to enhance clinical care for newborns.
Other donations include comfort and support packs for young people in out-of-home care, equipment to support paediatric physiotherapy, distraction therapy, portable paediatric measuring devices, and playtime toys.
Mid North Coast Local Health District, District Director of Clinical Service Delivery Nicky Smith said, the breadth of equipment and resources funded through the donation is an extraordinary achievement.
“The generosity of Coffs Kids and its supporters has enabled us to purchase equipment that supports our clinicians who continue to deliver high quality care to our youngest patients,” Ms Smith said.
“We are truly humbled by the effort that has gone into fundraising. The dedication of the volunteers, sponsors and community members who supported fundraising efforts is extraordinary.
“Thank you to all who contributed, supported, and helped make this donation possible.”
Coffs Kids Committee Member Nikki Williams said Coffs Kids is about helping every child the opportunity to thrive, regardless of the challenges they may face.
“It holds a special place in my heart, as a community, we have a responsibility to look after our most vulnerable children and families and that is exactly what this charity does,” Ms Williams said.
“I am incredibly proud to see the impact being made, both by donating equipment to our local hospital and also by supporting community organisations working on the ground with families. These services can change the trajectory of a young person’s life.
“Thank you to our volunteers, sponsors, donors and supporters who continue to make this impact possible. Together, we are creating a stronger, more compassionate community for local kids.”
